In the first half of the year, the scale of China’s foreign trade reached 19.8 trillion yuan, achieving positive year-on-year growth for eight consecutive quarters, showing strong resilience. This resilience is particularly evident in areas affected by local epidemics in the early stage.
Since March of this year, domestic epidemics have spread more and more, and “important foreign trade towns” such as the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta have been affected to varying degrees. Coupled with the high base in the same period last year, uncertainties such as the Ukrainian crisis and the rise in commodity prices have increased, and foreign trade has been under pressure and slowed down. Since May, with the efficient overall planning of epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, the effects of various steady growth policies have gradually appeared, and foreign trade enterprises have resumed work and resumed production in an orderly manner, especially in the Yangtze River Delta and other regions, with the rapid recovery of import and export, which has driven the growth rate of foreign trade in China to rebound significantly.
In May, the import and export of Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Northeast China increased by 4.8%, 2.8% and 12.2% respectively, and the growth rate in June further increased to 14.9%, 6.4% and 12.8%. Among them, the contribution rate of three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta region to the national foreign trade growth in June was close to 40%.
